Animalkind
All twenty two of the original Vicktory Dogs paintings will be featured in this exhibition, the first time they've been shown together. "Animalkind" will include a vibrant mix of works by established and emerging artists. Using a variety of media, including drawing, painting, photography, sculpture and video, these artists investigate animals as sentient beings inherently endowed with conscious thought.
Their works go beyond traditional portraiture to speak to the future of our growing understanding of the animal mind. For example, several of the artists explore the profound bond between animals and humankind while others present animals as metaphors for the human condition.
As a whole, the exhibition will raise awareness of the treatment of food, entertainment and companion animals, humanity's relationship to wild animals, the potential pitfalls of animal research, and the cognitive and communicative capacity of the animal kingdom. Participating artists:
