The Watcher Project

Welcome to The Watcher Project!

The Watcher came to me when I was thinking about how to use my art in a collaborative project with my Facebook fans, Twitter followers, and readers of this blog.

First I have to elaborate on what I just said. "The Watcher came to me". The more I got into this painting, (it has taken several months to complete) the more I came to realize The Watcher is alive, or at least is a life force of some kind! I've always believed there are infinite numbers of realities in the universe, and we humans can only glimpse a few of them at a time! I've also always believed that the art I create comes to me from somewhere else. Maybe it's a higher part of my own consciousness, maybe from somewhere completely outside of myself. No matter - from somewhere else beyond my day-to-day reality!

Having said all that, here's the "back-story" I learned from The Watcher.

Watchers are like angels, they watch over the earth, the animals, and life in general. They're not here to interfere, only to watch and observe. This particular watcher is tasked with observing The Kindness Revolution!

In the midst of all the war and chaos in the world, there is a revolution of kindness going on. Kind and caring people everywhere are living their lives with meaning and positivity. They are being the change they want to happen in the world! These are people who will help out a friend in need, who stop to rescue an injured animal by the roadside. People who live simply so that others can simply live. People for whom compassion is becoming a way of life. These are the people of The Kindness Revolution, and The Watcher is here to observe what they're doing. And if you've gotten this far in reading this, you're probably one of them!

So what exactly does The Watcher want to observe and how exactly does that happen?

First of all, The Watcher is interested in seeing examples of The Kindness Revolution, as opposed to the negativity and chaos going on in the world. So for example, The Watcher might like to witness a protest against the cruelty of factory farms, or an effort to stop the killing of whales. The Watcher would like to see an adoption event for animals saved from shelters, or a spay-neuter clinic, or a feral cat rescue program. The Watcher would be interested in an event aimed at stopping breed specific legislation, or a protest against dog fighting. Are you getting the idea? The watcher would also like to see people marching for peace and ending wars. People calling for social justice and civil rights. People looking for kinder and more compassionate ways to live our lives here on the earth.

So here's how you can get involved.

  1. To download the PDF of The Watcher, click here.
  2. (Optional) Click here to download a "reversed" PDF of The Watcher to make a back!
  3. Next print a copy on a heavy photo paper, (optional) you could have your Watcher laminated for better protection, then cut around the image using scissors.Watcher cut out
  4. Now make a handle for your Watcher, I used a wooden ruler, but any small stick will do. Tape the stick to back of photo and you've got your own virtual version of The Watcher! Watche alt=
  5. Then take your Watcher with you. And when you witness something good and positive happening, take a photo of The Watcher in the situation, or a picture of The Watcher meeting a leader of The Kindness Revolution, or a picture of yourself holding your watcher watching the good! Use your imagination, and above all have fun!
  6. Next click here to send your photo to: watcher@cyrusmejia.com. Be sure to attach your .jpg image to the message, Include your name, and the story of the photo in the body of your message. You can send me as many photos as you like, but just send one at a time and keep the filesize below 5 Mg. If you want to send a photo from your phone and you can't access this website, simply use the address above and put the words The Watcher as the subject line.

Eventually when lots of virtual watchers have witnessed lots of positive events I'll have an exhibition featuring the original painting(s) and slideshows of all of your photos playing on video monitors in an art gallery. And you can all come and we'll have a great Kindness Revolution Party! So tell your friends, make extra Watchers and pass them around, share this blog on Facebook and Twitter, get the word out!

Visit this blogpost regurlarly and play slideshow below to see photos that have been uploaded! Slideshow looks best when viewed in full screen.

Thanks for participating in The Watcher Project!

Amor y Paz,

Cyrus
