575 Candles Blown Out

This piece is presented as a performance. First, the audience is invited to participate in the lighting of 575 candles made from cat food cans, which usually takes about twenty to thirty minutes. Then everyone is invited to blow out the candles, which usually takes about twenty to thirty seconds! This juxtaposition of times - one long, one short - creates a very poignant experience of the preciousness and fragility of life.
